The fickle finger of fate ends up pointing right at Justice Minister

The 'Great Wheel of Public Service Pay Misfortune' has been spinning pretty constantly for many weeks. Now, where would it finally stop to deliver its first big but inevitable political headache?

Would it be the teachers, or more specifically, the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland? That would leave our Mr Bruton, the Education Minister, first in the queue and facing the nasty music of industrial discord.

Or, would it be the nurses? Well, that would leave our brightest government spark, our young and most promising Simon Harris, the Health Minister, in the gap of industrial relations danger.
