The real reason we should save Tara
The vexed question of Tara has been trundling on for a few years now. The environmental equivalent of the Mahon Tribunal, the whole issue is complicated, complex, boring and involves some deeply unpleasant characters.
In fact, many of us have simply decided to choose a position based on the people they don't like. Hence, several people acquainted with this column are desperate to raze the whole thing to the ground simply because they can't stand being lectured by the smug, self-appointed guardians of the area. Yep, that means you, Stuart Townsend.
But no matter how irritating such people are, and no matter how gratifying it would be to destroy something they hold dear, we now have a compelling reason to protect the area from any harm whatsoever.
