One of the things that women seem genetically incapable of understanding is that men are . . . well, let's just say that we're simple creatures.
That's why it is so baffling when a woman asks a man what he's thinking, because the chances are that he wasn't thinking about anything at all; his brain had just gone into sleep mode because he didn't have to engage it at the time.
And now that he's been asked that bloody question, he's going to have to make something up so he will sound far more interesting than he actually is. And, being a bloke, he'll come out and say something stupid and get himself into trouble.
