Just when you think that society has moved forward, you get a sudden, sharp jolt that reminds you that maybe people aren't as grown up as we thought.

The William Hague gay-scandal-in-a-tea-pot is a perfect case in point.

As you know, Hague was accused last week of being -- shock! horror! gasp! etc -- gay because he shared a twin hotel room on several occasions with his chief assistant when they were on the road.
