Two stories appeared in the papers yesterday -- separate yet connected in a way that many people won't realise.
Australia has been fixated on the case of a terminally ill humpback whale that beached itself on the coast south of Perth.
Ill, distressed, obviously aware that it was about to die, this majestic mammal had decided to try and quicken its own demise by going on to dry land.
