Ian O'Doherty: Well, it's one way of doing things

She has been condemned and praised in equal measure for her erotically charged novel Wetlands, and now author Charlotte Roche has come up with an interesting new way of political lobbying.

As you may know, our new political overlords are the Germans. Taking a leaf from Kent Brockman's book, I would like to take this opportunity to offer my services as an informer and slave master for them. I'd use the phrase 'kapo' -- but Germans tend to get a bit touchy about words like that.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes: Charlotte Roche. Well it seems the Germans are expanding their nuclear power stations. The fact that this is happening at the same time as they're increasing their sphere of influence throughout Europe is surely nothing more than a coincidence (isn't it?).
