Ian O'Doherty: The wrong arm of the law

When we look to the police, we expect certain things.

It's not unreasonable, for instance, to expect a copper to be able to handle himself in a physical situation and while it is obviously vital that we don't have a police force that is out of control and above the very law it has sworn to uphold, we have to realise that it's a tough job and requires tough people.

But times have changed and now it seems that anyone can join the force, regardless of their ability to handle a physical situation.
