Ian O'Doherty: How very dare they!

The Danish government came out this week and said that it was going to explore ways of making it illegal to post anonymous messages on the web.
It's a nice idea in its own way but it's hardly a workable one.
After all, you're always going to have people who can find a way around it. How can we expect the kind of anonymous jerk who likes to post abusive messages without signing their actual name to sign up to a voluntary code of conduct? In fact, that's a bit like asking someone scrawling graffiti on a toilet wall to leave their name, number and home address under whatever vile filth they have just written.
