So, it turns out that the main thoroughfare in our capital city is not a war zone after all, but is actually a lovely place to visit.

Of course, the fact that this news is brought to us by the Dublin City Business Improvement District makes sense -- this is the umbrella group of shops and businesses in the area that pay exorbitantly high rents for the privilege of operating in one of the most drug-infested blackspots in the country. They have a horse in this race, as it were.

Even so, we are now meant to believe that O'Connell Street is actually one of the safest places in the country, and the Chief Superintendent of the local Store Street station, Pat Leahy, reports that there were only 14 assaults this year, and only four of those were in daylight.
