A few years ago, I went to see a psychic in action. I didn't go voluntarily, trust me.

My then boss decided that, because I was an ardent sceptic, seeing one of the most famous practitioners of his 'art' in the flesh might make me change my mind. Or at least give me some sarky material.

The psychic's name was Colin Fry and he was a big cheese in the then burgeoning TV psychic field. He's dead now, so it would be churlish to have a pop at him, but that night remains one of the most grotesque pieces of charlatanism and vile emotional exploitation I have ever had the misfortune to witness.
