How we nailed metrosexual gentlemen - down to a tea

Liam Collins indulges in boom-era gossip over a man-friendly afternoon tea with restaurateur Robbie Fox

Four pints of Wicklow Wolf later, myself and Robbie Fox strut out of a well-known Dublin hotel well satisfied with our "Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea".

We all know that 'ladies who lunch' really want to get stuck into the champers as soon as the Angelus bell tolls, but afternoon tea is a different concept. It invokes ladies of a certain vintage sitting around admiring the doilies on the cake tray and discussing their lovers and the consistency of the scones.

So here we are, myself and Mr Fox, sitting down to Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea in the Morrison Hotel on Ormond Quay slightly after 4pm, himself having been fashionably late for our date.
