Boys in Green have no Plan B – and neither does the Labour Party
There are those who believe this particular C-word sits uneasily wherever there is polite use of the English language. But Robbie Keane – fair play to him – this week showed little time for such niceties. Extreme situations sometimes demand extreme language.
He was obviously fed up to the back teeth by the inevitable round of sanctimonious claptrap spoken by some of the soccer know-alls, in the wake of Giovanni Trapattoni's departure as Ireland manager.
"We talk about Plan A and Plan B and crap like that," Keane said. "Ireland has never had a Plan B before. We've always had Plan A – simple as that."
