The media must hold Kenny to account
If any FF Taoiseach had acted like Kenny, the press would have gone for the jugular, writes Gene Kerrigan
God, I miss Charlie Haughey. Okay, Charlie was a crook. He stole, he lied, he bullied, there was no back he wouldn't stab – but eventually everyone knew where we stood with Charlie. And with Charlie, any sane person knew the best place to stand was with your back to the wall. One hand protecting your throat, the other keeping a firm grip on your wallet.
These days, things are somewhat more complicated.
Take this Perry fella. John Perry, the Minister for Small Business – the chap who tried to turn his own small business into a big business and got into trouble. We all know people who got into financial trouble these past few years. Perry has just a few weeks to come up with a lot of money. He's in a bloody awful fix and we wish him well.
