The traditional response to bad news is to relieve your frustration by kicking the cat. These days, Ivor Callely has become the national cat. And things have been so bad we've taken grim pleasure in kicking the little bugger on a daily basis.
Last week, when they weren't kicking Ivor, a lot of people took a swipe at Brian Cowen for daring to have a smoke at Croke Park. Everyone was kicking John Gormley.
Recreational outrage, I call it. Doesn't solve any problems, but it feels good.
