Fionnan Sheahan: Kenny right to hitch a ride on EU growth drive

'AS the Government has argued time and again, a growth-oriented focus is the essential complement to the efforts at consolidation and reform under way.'

Taoiseach Enda Kenny's claims over recent weeks that the Government was driving the agenda on having growth and job stimulation measures implemented EU-wide are about as credible as the contention the Coalition single-handedly negotiated a reduction in the interest rate on the bailout.

The rate cut came about as a knock-on effect of Greece having to be given a reduction.
