Fionnan Sheahan: Any slip-up could prove fatal as coalition majority shrinks

MARTIN Cullen's resignation as a TD has further narrowed Taoiseach Brian Cowen's slim Dail majority.
He is only able to bank on 81 votes in the Dail, meaning he still technically leads a minority government and the opposition could force a tie.
The Government will be in no hurry to hold the three by-elections now pending to fill three vacant Dail seats to replace Mr Cullen in Waterford, George Lee in Dublin South and Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher in Donegal South-West.
