IT would be a serious mistake for GAA people to gloss over the action taken by Donegal manager Jim McGuinness against Kevin Cassidy as just another bout of 'winter talk', trivial incidents that help to break the monotony of months of inter-county inactivity.
There is much more to it than mere pub talk or internet gossiping.
For Donegal people who love their Gaelic football, the issue largely concerns whether one of their very best footballers will be playing for the county in 2012.
