Eugene McGee: GAA grants mask the real financial plight of clubs

I thought the timing by the GAA last Thursday of their announcement of their list of financial allocations for the coming year was very significant.
As everybody knows, the country is on it's knees money-wise and private development is just a distant memory. However, the GAA has made a bigger allocation announcement than I ever recall.
Is this a show of defiance to indicate that the GAA is better able to run its financial affairs than various governments of recent past?
