Whenever a scandal or controversy has gripped the world of cricket, the players on our little office team smiled knowingly. Nothing like that could ever happen to us.
It was the same this week, as three Pakistani players and a bookie's agent began their sentences for "spot-fixing" during a Test match against India last summer.
The bookmaker's man had paid the players to bowl no-balls at preordained times during the game, allowing those who had bet on such an occurrence to win large sums of money.
