David Robbins: Walking in Camino wonderland . . . but only in my dreams
My plans to take my daughter on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage walk have not been going smoothly. In fact, they may have to be postponed -- for about 10 years.
First, I showed her a promotional brochure that came with one of the papers this week. "Look," I said, "mom and me did this walk a few years ago. Wouldn't it be nice if we all did it again as a family?"
The word "walk" now divides our household: the new dog goes into a fit of buck-lepping whenever it is uttered, while my daughter knits her brows and flounces off to play with something pink.
