As I stood at the foot of the Pyrenees at Gavarnie and looked at the snow-covered peaks above me, I found myself thinking of Hannibal.
The great Carthaginian general and myself faced a common problem: how to get past this great mountain range.
He, of course, was going the other way, towards Rome, whereas I was trying to get to the small town of Torla in the Ordessa Valley in Spain.
