You hear them before you see them, the wheels of their trolleys trundling over the bridge from the car park. They move in a pack, with their outsize bags marked with the emblems of their tribe: Nike, Titleist, Callaway.
There is banter, even at this early hour: who was late, who got lost, who's playing off what handicap and are you sure you've brought enough golf balls?
The queue at the Aer Lingus desk is a sea of pastels and Argyle diamond patterns. The cool ones wear the collars of their Ralph Lauren polo shirts turned up and their Oakley shades lowered against the glare of the lights.
