The train station at Warnham is in the middle of the rolling Sussex countryside. The village, with its ancient churchyard and half-timbered houses, is a short walk away.
Not many people get out at Warnham. But today, there was a touch of glamour on the platform. A pretty girl in a red summer dress stood there in the sunshine.
She was, we learned, on her way to a wedding. She declined a lift to the village. It was a nice afternoon, and she preferred to walk.
