Ahh, Paris. And, more to the point, Paris in the springtime. City of light and love. City of handsome boulevards and quaint cafés. City of history, culture, fashion and, what's this? City of fat women?
Yes, I'm afraid so. The petite Parisienne is apparently a myth. The thin, sophisticated, well-dressed, beautifully coiffed woman of our dreams (well, my dreams anyway) is no more.
France is approaching American levels of obesity. Some 42pc of French women (and 51pc of men) are classified as overweight or obese.
