Government stands idly by as motorists are relentlessly hammered by rising premiums

The relentless rise in the cost of motor insurance is the rip-off that just will not go away. Many motorists were hoping that after three years of massive rises we were finally on the cusp of a peak in the cost of cover.

But not a bit of it.

Yet again, hopes of an easing-back in the rate of premium rises have been dashed. The cost of the average premium went up again in July.
