THERE is a price war raging at the moment among life assurance companies. That is great for consumers -- or is it?

Intense competition has driven down prices to the extent that a family can save between €2,000 and €7,500 over the 20- to 30-year term of a life policy.

Life assurance companies are competing harder to win business because people are no longer investing in pensions and investments due to the economic downturn.
