Rents have risen so much that it is now cheaper to buy almost everywhere than it is to rent.

With the exception of some of the more exclusive parts of Dublin, it will cost less to buy a three-bed home than to rent it. The problem is there is little or nothing out there to purchase, and precious little to rent.

But if you can find a three-bed house, it is cheaper to rent such a property, whether you are talking about Dublin 8, Meath, Cork or Cavan, according to calculations by Daft.ie.
