There is a clamour for an overhaul of what are seen as very generous pension arrangements in the public service.

It is beyond dispute that the pensions for those who work for the State are second to none.

Even those who joined in the last four years, who have much less generous arrangements, can look forward to a retirement income that is the envy of those in the private sector.
