Repeat after me: I'm an individual

Is there even a point in trying to have an original thought? Are we all just products of our tribe, recycling the same received notions and bullshit?

I was struck recently by the fact that two female columnists with The Irish Times  wrote virtually the same article on the same day. Jennifer O'Connell and Una Mullally both wrote one recent Monday about vocal fry. Look it up. It's essentially a tic in the way some female broadcasters speak and apparently it is another stick used to beat women with and to tell them how annoying they are and how they shouldn't be broadcasters.

It isn't actually that surprising that two women, or two anythings, writing for the same newspaper would write the same piece. It's to be expected isn't it? It was probably a bit weird that both these pieces were carried in the paper on the same day, but then I guess it would have been oppressive to ask either of these women/people to maybe put off their vocal fry piece until another day. It would have been disallowing them from being heard. And anyway, let's face it, I'd be the last person to throw any stones regarding multiple articles on the same matter.
