Joke of a Government must assert its authority

Between children that don't exist and water charges that are just a loan, it has been a shambolic first week

It feels like silly season, doesn't it? But it's not just the sunshine and the time of year. This feels like a silly season that could last anything up to three years. Hell, maybe even five.

Because the new Government is largely a joke to people. It is a joke that people find entertaining for now, but they will tire of it quickly. They will tire of it quickly because, just as children deep down really like discipline, people deep down really want to be led. From Hitler to Trump, people are attracted to strong leadership, even if that verges on the sociopathic.

This Government so far has no sense of discipline, authority or leadership about it. It is a circus. It started as a circus 10 days ago and it's only gotten worse. For a people who were adrift for 70 days, as the country got more and more skittish, the circus is not what we need right now. A bit of authority is what's required around here, the sense that someone is in charge.
