Brendan Keenan: Solutions to euro crisis are full of hidden dangers

'If the euro fails, then Europe fails," Angela Merkel declared yesterday, adding in words that have extra resonance coming from a chancellor of Germany, that there was then no certainty that the continent would enjoy another 60 years of peace.

Fine words; butter no parsnips, though.

Such fine words, followed by yet another inconclusive summit, can only add to the fears and frustrations of Europe's citizens.
