Brendan Keenan: Cowen needs to put his words into action before it's too late
THE Taoiseach was in towering form at the ICMSA annual conference last week. I always knew he had it in him. I just don't know where it's been all these months, although I have my dark suspicions.
However he got it back, I hope he hangs on to it this time. It's not that he has any chance of winning the election -- but the country needs him in this kind of form.
Mr Cowen's gift -- it always seemed to me -- was an ability to speak plainly. As I wrote when he was elected, that would come as a great relief after the verbal peregrinations of Mr Ahern -- themselves also on classic display last week.
