Four years ago here on this very spot, we forecast that the Irish people were possessed of the memory of a gnat smashed against the windscreen.

The country was ruled by the IMF and the EU. The danger was that Ireland would go in to a devastating liquidation from which we would never rightly recover.

But we were saved and nice thanks we gave. This last government freed Ireland.
