Back Chat - Liam Fay: Tiocfaidh ár blather

Liadh Ni Riada of Sinn Fein
Liadh Ni Riada of Sinn Fein

Liadh Ni Riada, the Sinn Féin MEP, is a self-confessed mouthpiece. On her party's website, the long-time Irish language activist presents herself as the authentic voice of Ireland with the rhapsodic zeal of a wannabe on, well, The Voice of Ireland.

"We need to strengthen the voice of the plain people of Ireland," Ni Riada declares. "The voice of Sinn Féin needs to be heard. A republican voice that will say enough is enough. I believe I have the potential to be that voice in Europe."

Having campaigned on her communication skills, however, Ni Riada now plans to use her voice to confuse rather than converse.
