The Sunday Independent can exclusively reveal that there is growing concern around the country that people are "outraged out" and have no more apoplexy left to give.

While it used to be that Irish people would only have to get worked up a few times a year, or maybe once every month or two, what scientists call "the cycle of apoplexy" is now getting faster and faster and doctors say that many people simply can't keep up any more.

"We blame the internet and the rolling news cycle," said one boffin who has been studying the phenomenon, adding "and, of course, we blame the Public Accounts Committee."
