When your little angel turns into a screaming zombie child
An obsession with all-night messaging has made mornings hell with an exhausted daughter, writes Antonia Leslie
MY 11-year-old daughter is bleary-eyed, grumpy and downright rude. It's 7am, she brushes her hair into a ponytail, picks up her mobile phone and storms downstairs to pour herself a bowl of cereal.
What have I done wrong now, I ask myself. I've been pleasant as she chooses her clothes and I help her get ready for the rest of the day. She was in bed by 9.30pm last night, which was a struggle. She was tired and after much protesting, finally agreed that she did, after all, need sleep.
She leaves the house at 10 to eight and hurries to catch the school bus. The door slams behind her.
