We need to talk about Kevin and the €3.6bn
SINCE the infamous €3.6bn was discovered behind the Exchequer's sofa almost two weeks ago, Department of Finance chief Kevin Cardiff has been lambasted far and wide.
He has been accused of incompetence and dereliction of duty. He has been criticised for leaving the department in a "shambles" when he heads off to a new job at the Court of European Auditors.
But does the career civil servant really deserve such an inglorious departure?
