IN SEPTEMBER 2009, immediately after he appeared as the first guest of Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show, the Taoiseach Brian Cowen went to the Green Room in RTE, where he was met by two of his media advisers, neither of whom was happy at how the interview had gone: the word "mugged" was used.
RTE had invited journalists to Montrose to record the great event -- not the interview, but the reincarnation of the oldest chat show in the world, under the tutelage of Tubridy.
We were ushered into a windowless room, more a corridor, and plied with cheap wine and rich finger food; various PR flunkies were flapping about, giving off a sense of their own importance.
