THOSE politicians waiting in the wings to form a Government after an early election, and indeed those who perform the role, however perfunctorily, in the interim, would do well to take the time to watch the TV4 documentary this evening on Ken (TK) Whitaker.
Not only does it cement his reputation as the greatest living Irishman, and endorse the public sentiment that named him as Irish person of the Millennium, but it provides a masterclass in how nations and governments should organise themselves in the face of adversity.
If nothing else, the programme should revalidate the sort of public servant of whom Ken Whitaker was the grand exemplar. Not all were caricature Sir Humphrey Appelbys.
