They may be hailing it as a success this weekend but the Seanad election actually amounts to a pyrrhic victory for Fianna Fail.

Incredibly, the party remains in huge denial regarding its altered state, despite its decimation in the general election.

The fact that Fianna Fail did better than predicted in the Seanad election will probably give a false comfort to those who remain in some sort of la-la land about exactly where this once great party is at. There are too many members suffering from a serious case of carry-on-regardless.
