Trial revived old debates -- and sparked new ones

IT was the cover up and lies that hurt Celine Cawley's family most and aggravated the trial judge, Mr Justice Barry White. And it also justified, in the judge's mind, a 10-year sentence for manslaughter.

But Eamonn Lillis did not get 10 years. He received seven, minus four weeks for time already served.

Many will rail against the perceived injustice of what is really a five-year spell in prison for killing his wife.
