POLICING and justice powers in Northern Ireland were officially handed over yesterday from London to Belfast -- a move that had long been heralded as crucial to the successful completion of the complex jigsaw puzzle that encompassed the peace process.
That view was echoed by the man who was newly granted responsibility for law and order policy, Alliance Party leader David Ford.
