GOVERNMENT ministers got two lucky breaks yesterday as they made their final preparations for a fortnight of meetings with IMF and ECB officials due to kick off in Dublin today.
Some of the good news came in the shape of facts and figures from the Department of Finance, while the rest came from brokers' reports on last week's stress tests.
As yesterday's chimney fire bellowed smoke into the tastefully furnished rooms of the Merrion Hotel in Dublin, where the IMF officials usually stay, Morgan Stanley published what may well be the most upbeat report on Ireland's prospects by a foreign brokerage since September 2008.
