MARISSA Carter, entrepreneur and owner of Carter Beauty salon in Blackrock, Co Dublin, has experienced much hesitancy from her bank to support small and medium business enterprises in the past 24 months.
"Less than a year ago my bank was on the television advertising the fact that they were 'open for business' and yet I had to fund my business expansion from my own savings and cash flow from my salon which was then operating in Dun Laoghaire," says Marissa.
This was despite Marissa's business account being very healthy and having a very strong credit history. She also had no bad debts and yet, according to the young entrepreneur, "they expressed very little interest in supporting my expansion plans".
