Screeching microphones drown out the good feedback
THEY had travelled to Dublin Castle from more than 30 countries yesterday to discuss how we can save Ireland but most of them seemed to be focused on another small country on the other side of the world: New Zealand.
Anxiety about how the men in green will perform against Wales early this morning was perhaps the dominant theme at yesterday's Global Irish Economic Forum. Taoiseach Enda Kenny ended his speech by cheering on the team.
Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore began his speech with the same theme. Speaker after speaker throughout the day repeated the not terribly original idea that if only the rest of Ireland could perform as well as the rugby team, all would be well with the world.
