Sam Smyth: Polling day spectres striking fear into FG

STUDYING the Ipsos/MRBI opinion poll over breakfast yesterday, one of Fine Gael's campaign veterans asked if the party was solidly supporting Gay Mitchell.
After lunch when yet another poll, this time conducted by Red C for Paddy Power, confirmed Gay Mitchell's crash, the same battle-tested Fine Gaeler posed another question.
"Will the party be united behind Enda Kenny after polling day?" he asked, and added that the leader will have awkward questions to answer come October 28.
