Former Finance Minister Brian Lenihan's motive for his surprise attack on his former Taoiseach was revenge and frustration, according to former Fianna Fail ministers.

"He is frustrated because he knows that if he had moved on the leadership last September or October, he would have won it," said a former Fianna Fail minister.
