The debacle at the Central Remedial Clinic over top-up payments brings into sharp focus the role of the board in all organisations, whether they are private companies, stock market corporations or publicly funded State entities.

As the spotlight shifts towards the pay of Rehab chief executive Angela Kerins, questions about her level of remuneration should be aimed at the Rehab board as much as at Kerins herself.
