THE thing about knowing Sean Gallagher personally is that as of the middle of this week practically everyone was asking the same questions: "What's he really like?" and "Do you think he'll win it?".

  • Go To

In answer to the latter there is far too long of a campaign to go yet to know who will win; and as for the former, and what he's like when the cameras and microphones are off, well largely the same actually, if rather more relaxed.

I don't know him terribly well (he is a good friend of my husband) but from what I do know he is probably one of the most positive people I have ever met. Well, outside of the United States at any rate. He is definitely unIrish in that regard. In fact, when you first meet him an inbred native suspicion springs up telling you that he has to be putting it on. But no, it seems to be the real deal. He is also a very good listener, which if I may generalise again, is quite an unmale attribute.
