Poll results won't help Taoiseach's 'hangover'
IN the hit comedy 'The Hangover', a group of men on a stag party wake up in a trashed hotel room in Las Vegas and try to figure out the events of the night before.
But Taoiseach Brian Cowen now knows exactly what happened after his disastrous decision to stay up singing and drinking until after 3am at the Fianna Fail think-in in the Ardilaun Hotel in Galway last week.
It comes as little surprise that voters surveyed in the TV3/Millward Brown Lansdowne opinion poll were not impressed by his subsequent interview on 'Morning Ireland', with 71pc saying his credibility as leader of the country had been damaged. And while you might expect 80pc of Fine Gael supporters and 75pc of Labour voters to agree with such a proposition, it will alarm Fianna Fail that 59pc of their voters feel the same.
